Guiseology (pronounced GUYS-all-oh-gee) is built around the idea that souls don’t have a single fixed identity. Souls move through life wearing a particular “mask” that reflects their underlying tendencies and development. It is similar to astrology, which places a person in a sign based on birth date and celestial positioning. However, Guiseology uses a multilayered assignment that incorporates both date of birth and year of birth. This means each mask is tied to a more specific galactic arrangement that accounts not only for the positions of the planets, but also the position of the moon, and the movement of our solar system through the galaxy. Two souls who share a birthday can therefore wear completely different masks depending on their year of birth, allowing Guiseology to distinguish between souls who would otherwise share the same astrological sign.

The 14 masks are divided into five types, Organic, Synthetic, Mineral, Shape, and Galactic. Each mask represents a different mode of being. These are not simply personality labels, but behavioral lenses. Together, the masks offer explanations for the ways a person tends to process change, relate to others, handle pressure, and express identity. While a mask is identified through the timing of birth, Guiseologisits (pronounced GUYS-all-oh-jists) believe the assignment itself reflects the soul’s current stage of growth and the lessons it has yet to learn.

There is no predetermined order in which souls are assigned a mask as they are born into this world. Each soul is on its own path and returns to this realm whenever it is born into a human life. We don’t know how many lifetimes a soul will spend wearing one of the particular masks. Some believe the journey is strictly 14 lives long, with each life wearing a different mask. Others argue that since some of the masks offer deeper and more difficult lessons, it could take a soul countless visits to this human realm wearing the same mask to fully understand that mask. The purpose is not only to master the perception created by the mask, but also to understand the many perspectives of others while wearing it. The fact is, we may never know these details. Perhaps that is by design, and perhaps we are not meant to know.

While the practice of Guiseology emerged from the study of traditional astrology, it is not intended to be a replacement for the insight gleaned from astrology, but rather a supplement to it. Guiseology preserves the symbolic richness of character types while introducing a second layer of differentiation based on time and generational context, allowing for more distinctions between people who would otherwise be grouped together.

Over time, Guiseology evolved into a way to understand identity as contextual rather than fixed. A mask is not something a person “is” in a permanent sense, but something they tend to express under certain conditions. This makes the practice of Guiseology less about prediction and more about how a person interacts with environments, relationships, and life stages.
